Sister Lauren Trinh’s many friends gathered on April 14 to celebrate her 25 years of monastic profession. Reverend Maximillian Buonocore, OSB of Newark Abbey was the celebrant of the Eucharist. Reverend Peter Tran, Coordinator of the Vietnamese Apostolate in the Diocese of Metuchen noted in his homily Sister Lauren’s unique journey as a child traveling without her parents from war torn Vietnam to the United States and her journey to Catholicism and eventually to her Benedictine vocation.
The choir from St Cecelia’s Parish in Iselin, their director and organist Mirabella Parota, four instrumentalists and vocal soloist Ann Cecilia Trinh, Sister Lauren’s triplet sister, enhanced the liturgical celebration with the beauty of their music.
A special song of thanksgiving was offered by the Vietnamese choir of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish of South Plainfield. Sister’s family, who could not be present because of distance, were represented in the flowers they sent to adorn the church and would later view the event through the video and photography provided by her brother.
Sr. Mary Feehan, prioress, received Sister Lauren’s renewal of monastic profession and asked all to join her in blessing Sister Lauren. After Mass guests congratulated Sister Lauren as they moved to Benedictine Center to continue the festivities with a meal and fellowship.
