The January Thomas Merton Retreat was held on Zoom. From the comfort of their home retreatants listened to reflections, joined discussions and enjoyed a video of a Merton conference and a reflective display of Merton’s photos.
“Praying Scripture; Living Scripture” retreat on February 26, 8 AM- 3PM was an opportunity for those who wanted to get away from their daily surroundings. Retreatants joined the community for Mass; the conferences were held in the library. The church and monastery grounds were available for prayer and reflection. Participants were fully vaccinated and wore masks inside. Hopefully. those protocols provided the freedom to relax and enjoy a prayerful spirit. It was also a joy to once again speak to one another in person over lunch in the dining room. It seemed almost pre-pandemic.
Lenten weekends include March 11-13, a directed/private retreat weekend with Sr Marita and March 25-27, “Lent: A Time of Joyful Emptiness” with Sr Marlene Milasus. The Holy Week Retreat is scheduled for April 14-17, but along with the other retreats, is subject to change according to covid protocols.
“Lenten Lunches” on Zoom with Sr. Philomena are noon reflections held on the Wednesdays of Lent. Past participants found these midweek reflections to be a refreshing way to keep focused on the spirit of Lent.
After Easter there are two more weekend retreats on the calendar “The Rosary, Circular Path to the Center”, May 6-8 and “Come Holy Spirit'', June 3-5.
